Alan Jackson earns ASCAP’s Founders Award
ASCAP will honor country star Alan Jackson with its Founders Award at the 48th annual ASCAP Country Music Awards on September 14.
A statement from the performing rights organization described the award as “among the most important honors that ASCAP gives to songwriters and composers who have made pioneering contributions to music by inspiring and influencing their fellow music creators.”
Past winners include Paul McCartney, Garth Brooks, Stevie Wonder, Billy Joel, Smokey Robinson, Emmylou Harris, James Taylor and Jackson Browne.

I kow this will sound nuts and it probably is ,to you guy’s anyway.Several years ago I wrote a poem called “Littles Towns”.I was living in Trumann,Ar.at the time.There was a satelite dealer who was hiring and I put in an application.I don’t remember the guy’s name but I do remember the conversation well.Instead of a job we got to talking about song writing and getting poetry and or songs publised and I mentioned to him that I was a writer.Then he told he was as well and that he sometimes wrote for none other than Alan Jackson.I’m not so sure I beleived him but then he ask me to see my songs and poems and after he read them eh asked could he keep them over night.I’m and idiot and said ok.He returned my stuff the next morning and I never heard from him again.
That was in 98′ or 99′,I realy don’t remember.I do remember though,that sometime later Mr.Jackson came out with a song about the state of little towns in the south,a very good song.A danm sight better than my poem but similar in meaning.I guess what I’m trying to say is that poem Little Towns is part of a copyrighted manuscript I’ve named “Poetry From My World” and if you want and I’m still just as much of an idiot as I was then,just not as desperate.I will send the whole thing to you.
This wouldn’t be shotgunning or whatever you guy’s call it.This is a professional peice of real work and I would be glad to share it.
