Paramount Nashville Name To Transition
February 5th, 2010
Are we Paramount Group or ParamountSong? We’ve had both names for many years, and sometimes it’s been confusing to people who contact us. Some refer to us as Paramount Group, as the logo at the top of the website says; others refer to us as ParamountSong, or Paramountsong.com, because that’s the our web name, or URL, as it’s known. However, for some time now, far more people have been using the name ParamountSong when they want to find us on the web. Read the rest of this entry »
More Nashville Music Types With Grammys
February 2nd, 2010
Some have asked why we didn’t include more Nashville Music connections in our previous Grammy blog. Check’em out at:
How About Those Grammys?
February 1st, 2010
The Grammys sure pleased the Nashville Music biz. With the awards dominated by Taylor Swift’s win of the Album of the Year award and Best Country Album (Fearless took both), plus Best Female Pop Vocal (You Belong With Me), the Zac Brown Band jumped in with Best New Artist.
While Taylor takes writer credit on most of her songs, songwriters everywhere take note that a big help comes from co-writer Liz Rose, who started writing with Taylor back when Taylor didn’t have a hit to her name. Rose took co-writing credit on “You Belong With Me.”
Nashville-based act Kings of Leon took Record of the Year with “Use Somebody.”
Some fans might say all this means too much Pop from Nashville. But they’ve said that many times before, and Country never dies. As Swift herself says, she loved Country when she was growing up in Pennsylvania because of its stories. If you listen, you still hear those stories in her songs. And you still hear traditional instruments like banjo and steel.
We like it because it gets more attention for Nashville, and spreads the message: Nashville is a major player in the music business. And for a wide range of music.
