The native of rural northern Florida topped USA TODAY's country airplay chart in April with his debut single, A Little More Country Than That. Corbin says that heroes George Jones, Merle Haggard and Keith Whitley whose producer, Carson Chamberlain, also worked on the 28-year-old singer's debut inspired his approach, but, more often, people hear George Strait in his voice.

Of all the things I ever imagined might be on Ne-Yo’s play list, I never in a million years would’ve guessed country music. But the rapper admits that is indeed what he’s into. “I listen to country music — I like country music. I feel that’s one of the last genres of music where storytelling is a staple.

Country Composer, Performer Hank Cochran Dies – ABC News

NASHVILLE , Tennessee Reuters – Hank Cochran, who wrote a cascade of country music hits, died on Thursday at his home near Nashville, according to his family. He was 74.The cause of death was pancreatic cancer, his family said.
Cochran gave Willie Nelson his first break in Nashville, persuading his employer, Pamper Music, to hire Nelson. When Cochran was offered a recording deal by Liberty Records, he successfully lobbied for Nelson to be signed too.
Cochran turned out hits for Eddy Arnold including “Make the World Go Away,” Patsy Cline’s “I Fall to Pieces,” and George Jones’s; “You Comb Her Hair.”
Cochran also wrote Loretta Lynn’s “Why Can’t He Be You?” and Merle Haggard’s “It’s Not Love,” as well as songs for Grammy-winner Burl Ives.

Bachelorette Contestants Lost Love Leads to Country Music

Ty Brown, The Bachelorette contestant who was booted from the show earlier this week, didnt find true love with Ali Fedotowsky, but he did find a new career opportunity. The Franklin, Tenn. native, who had dabbled in music while working full-time in medical sales prior to his appearance on the hit ABC reality show, now says he will devote all his time to his musical aspirations — thanks, in part, to The Bachelorette.
