Kelly Clarkson Hit, Mr. Know It All Turns Country
March 22nd, 2012
It often happens: songs of one genre are re-mixed with a little less here, a little more there and made into a song that seems tailor-made for another kind of radio — and a different audience.
As reported by The Boot, Kelly Clarkson’s chart-topping pop hit, Mr. Know It All, is soon to be a country chart-climber, too. The original American Idol has re-worked her smash hit to be a little bit slower with more guitar, less drums and less production, making it a perfect fit for the genre thats already become the Texas natives second home.
“Hey everybody, I got to work with Dann Huff and recut Mr. Know It All for country radio!” Kelly tweeted today March 21. “I hope yall like it!! I had a lot of fun recutting the song and getting the opportunity to work with Dann! It will be available on iTunes April 3rd.
“Dann Huff is the powerhouse producer behind platinum-selling country albums by Faith Hill, Keith Urban, Rascal Flatts and many more.

Songwriters Take Note: RIAA CEO/Chairman Says ISPs Ready To Police Copyright This Summer
March 15th, 2012
If you worry about someone stealing your songs, the time to worry most is AFTER a song gets recorded, released and on the charts. That’s when the illegal downloads begin, and they can sap a lot of the earnings a song would otherwise earn. Now, finally there’s hope that something will be done to throttle the download thieves.
The countrys largest Internet service providers, including Comcast, Cablevision, Verizon and Time Warner, may begin policing U.S. copyright infringement as soon July, according to a report on CNET. The news came from Cary Sherman, CEO/chairman of the Recording Industry Association of America, who was speaking on a panel at the Association of American Publishers annual meeting.
The panel focused on the failure of passing SOPA and PIPA and what the publishing industries can do in the future to further protect copyright. ISPs agreed a year ago to a policy of combating illegal downloading of copyrighted materials. Sherman reportedly said during the panel that most of the participating ISPs are on track to begin implementing the program by July 12.

New Country Record Label, Momentum, To Debut Artist Rachele Lynae
March 14th, 2012
Hey, folks, guess what. Nashville has another new record label, Momentum Label Group, launched by Jamie O’Neal. You might remember Jamie from her hit single “There Is No Arizona,” which went to number one on the Country Charts in 2004. There have been other releases of course, but that’s the one that stands out for us.
According to MusicRow.com, “Twenty-four-year-old Rachele Lynae is the first artist to release music from Jamie O’Neal’s newly launched Momentum Label Group. O’Neal has been producing the young singer-songwriter, whose debut “Party ‘Til the Cows Come Home,” is set to impact country radio on April 16.
“Lynae co-wrote the single with O’Neal, Jimmy Murphy and Stephanie Bentley. The accompanying music video, filmed in Nashville by Trey Fanjoy, will debut online in the coming weeks.”
The custom is to release a single first to gain some publicity and introduce a new artist, then hit with the album later. That usually means there are more songs to be recorded for the project. If it turns out that they’re looking for songs from other writers, we’ll be sure to get some to them.
