Sony Changes Artist Line-ups on Columbia and RCA Records
August 31st, 2011
Remenber when there was Columbia Records and RCA Records, two separate record companies? No more, of course. That changed when Sony bought them both. But they did continue separate identities for a while. Now that’s dead.
Aritsts are switched back and forth like there’s no history any more, just whatever it takes to make it convenient for the promotion department.
And so, a new CEO has decided to switch artists from one label to another like so much water running from one side of the sink to the other. You thought Miranda Lambert was on Columbia? No longer. It’s more convenient for her to be on RCA. So that’s where she’ll be from now until the next change is made.
You thought Columbia and BNA Records were two different labels? Wrong. Now they’re one and the same.
But it seems that Arista has come through in one piece. The label still has its stalwarts, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Ronnie Dunn, Kix Brooks, Jerrod Niemann, plus Brent Anderson, Adam Brand and Kristen Kelly. Go figure.
You just gotta be flexible when you buy records. You may be expecting to find your favorites on one label, only to find they’ve moved. With little or no notice.
New Video From Brad Paisley And Carrie Underwood — ‘Remind Me’

Of course the song we’re rooting for is “Toothbrush,” published by our music publisher partner ParMusic Group through their BMI firm, Par G Music. But there’s some stiff competition on such a star-studded album. In addition to Carrie Underwood and Alabama, there’s Blake Shelton, Don Henley, Marty Stuart, Sheryl Crow and Carl Jackson.
But on to more about the latest video. Read the rest of this entry »
