During an evening that celebrated songs spanning genres, styles and centuries, Pat Alger, Steve Cropper, Paul Davis and Stephen Foster became the latest inductees into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
“If there was a way to calculate the emotional effect their songs have had on our lives, it would blow our minds,” said Roger Murrah, the chairman of the Songwriters Hall.
Murrah presided over Sunday’s 40th annual Hall of Fame Dinner & Induction Ceremony, which brought a room full of music dignitaries including Cropper, Alger, Garth Brooks, Country Music Hall of Famer Bill Anderson and Taylor Swift to the Renaissance Nashville Hotel to honor and be honored.

Nashville Songwriters Foundation – Paul McCartney Honorary Inductee to Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame

Sir Paul McCartney was presented an Honorary Induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame just minutes prior to his acclaimed performance at Nashville’s the Bridgestone Arena on July 26, it was announced today by Roger Murrah, board chairman of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Foundation.

More than a dozen members of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame will perform at a special benefit concert for flood relief, on Saturday, July 17, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. To be held at Nashville’s newest outdoor concert venue, The Woods at Fontanel, the event is sponsored by Fontanel, Anchor Trailways & Tours and the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame Foundation.
Scheduled to perform at “Songwriters Sing For Nashville” are Matraca Berg, Bob DiPiero, Kye Fleming, Dallas Frazier, Dickey Lee, Dennis Morgan, Roger Murrah, Hugh Prestwood, Mark D. Sanders, Don Wayne, Jim Weatherly, Mike Reid and a few surprise guests. All ticket proceeds and all receipts from the day’s tours at the Fontanel Mansion will be donated to First Tennessee Bank for flood relief.
